From Prisoner to President
What is most remarkable about the recipient of the first Ambassador of Conscience Award is that he successfully and effortlessly made the transition from prisoner to president, from dissident to democratic leader, from playwright to player on the world stage and in so doing never lowered his moral standards; never lost his sense of humour; or forgot the absurd situation in which he found himself.

I thought we could take Jeffs Idea and write in a few bubbles.

The Bubble Project
15,000 Bubble Stickers were placed on top of advertisements in New York City and left for passers buy to fill in the blanks. These are the results.

ACOSS – Anti-Poverty Action
ACOSS has another online action – this time it is about asking local MPs and Senators to ‘support to the creation of a National Anti-Poverty Plan in the partyroom and Parliament’.
Last time I did this I received a reply from one senator. However, the members were so flooded by support for this campaign and most likely other acoss work that they arranged an advocacy day with 60 community leaders (including UCA) to discuss welfare in Australia. The first day of its kind.
So this is how it works.
The Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS) has an action network for individuals to sign up to which then sends letters to your local federal MPs and senators out lining concerns. You can go to the website and have a look at the letter and if you agree then register and it is sent off. It is a really simple way to let the federal government know that they need to consider more than economics when thinking about changing the whole welfare system. So the website is www.acoss.org.au and the take action it is on the left.

Attack poverty by preaching voluntary poverty
“To attack poverty by preaching voluntary poverty seems like madness. But again, it is direct action…. To be profligate in our love and generosity, spontaneous, to cut all the red tape of bureaucracy! The more you give away, the more the Lord will give you to give. It is a growth in faith. It is the attitude of the [person] whose life of common sense and faith is integrated. To live with generosity in times of crisis is only common sense. In the time of earthquake, flood, fire, people give recklessly; even governments do this.”
