August 29, 2006 · Print This Article

Dear Action Network member,

Thank you to all who have told us what you think are the 10 essentials to make Australia fair.

We are compiling the responses for a report on what Australians think is needed to make Australia fair. Submissions close on September 11, so please act now: •

If you have not already, go to http://www.acossweb.org.au/ausfair/ and fill in your 10 essentials to make Australia fair (you can also download an Info pack to assist you and your organisation in this process). •

Forward this email to your friends, family and colleagues so their views on what makes Australia fair can be counted too.

Thank you for your involvement in making Australia fair.

The ACOSS team.

    Dear all,
Thank you for participating in our consultation on the 10 Essentials to Make Australia Fair. Your 10 Essentials to Make Australia Fair are: Fair Education, Fair Health, Fair Community, Fair Services, Fair Welfare, Fair Reconciliation, Fair Environment, Fair Housing, Fair Work, Fair Rights and responsibilities. The report collating results from all States and Territories is now available online at http://www.acoss.org.au Please go to the ‘Have Your Say’ link to download the report to read.

While you are visiting our site, take a few minutes to participate in our Anti-Poverty week initiative and email your local Member of Parliament. You can add your support to the introduction of fairness impact statements to ensure that government decision making has to assess the consequences of their actions on poverty and fairness. This could be a great step towards building a fairer country for all Australians.

If you are interested in attending an event on fairness in Australia, see details on our site of the upcoming ACOSS Congress, 23-24 November 2006, in Sydney which will examine whether Australia is a fair place.

Together we can make Australia fair. Kind regards,
    ACOSS Team.
