A bit more info:
On July 9 2008 the CTM will host an event to encourage, inspire and equip Christians for socially engaged discipleship under the leadership of Ched Myers.
Ched is well-known in Australia both through his visits over the years as well as through his influential writing. Ched is co-founder and current Director of Bartimaeus Cooperative Ministries in California. He has written extensively in restorative justice, peace-making, biblical economics. Perhaps his most influential work is his commentary on Mark, Binding the Strong Man. Walter Wink describes it as: ‘.. quite simply, the most important commentary on a book of Scripture since Barth’s Romans… it is not only a tour de force as a commentary and interpretation, but it marks the watershed of a new theological era, one that has been gathering force for some time in liberation, feminist, and black theologies… a sort of continental divide marking the coming of age of the resistance church in North America, and the harbinger of a theological renaissance’. (The Christian Century, Aug 16, 1989, pp 761f.).
For those who would like a longer exposure to Ched’s teaching the 2008 School of Discipleship (also supported by the CTM) will meet in Canberra from July 10-13. This annual school is pitched mainly, but not exclusively, for tertiary students.
You can now see Ched’s talks in Melbourne from 1995.
The video I took sat in a cupboard for over ten years, but can now be seen on YouTube and Google Video, just search for ‘Ched Myers’. Use Google Video to see each video in one piece, YouTube to see them in 10 min blocks.
Any more detail about the panel options before we choose?
Did Ched write the rego form? What’s this about zip codes??
It’s a free rego plugin (writtten in USA) that we are trying to work out. The zip is annoying. Also, it seems to be having trouble sending confirmation emails but you are registered.
I will put up some more about panel members when more of them confirm they will be playing on the day
