Useful, if you thought that maybe the state of the world at the moment implied that it had indeed ended, and we are now all in hell. This handy little web utility is a good quick check of the state of the universe.
mmm indeed redfish
a most observant and insightful tool for our current consciousness.
I think that more of today’s web application developers could look at this for pointers on how a simple, concise tool such can be more useful than feature bloating already complicated apps.
I can foresee other useful micro-micro-applications like this. I think something like “am I in hell.com” could calculate the answer based on the balance of probabilities, given the current global situation, and answer YES or NO. Or “Did I take the blue or red pill.com” could assess whether reality was a better or worse situation than my current predicament, and answer simply “RED” or “BLUE”.
This is funny on so many levels
First is the obvious, that if the world had been destroyed the page would have been destroyed, so it’ll always be correct.
And to complicate matters, if the large hadron collider had created a black hole and we were all being sucked into it we mightn’t know it because of the resulting time dialation.
Then when you view the html source of the page it gets even better.
This page has an atom feed, just so you can subscibe to make sure you don’t miss any updates.
They actually used javascript to detect if the “worldHasEnded” variable exists to determine what answer to give.
And finally, they put a small disclaimer at the bottom. Take a look.
LOL
I hadn’t followed through to the source level and found the disclaimer.
That’s great.
Can’t figure out the disclaimer for this one.. where is it/how do I find it?
On the Mac
in Firefox go to view and scroll down to ‘page source’ (”Apple U” )
in Safari go to view source
I am PC illiterate so no idea or help on your machines.
