Simon and other peace buddies are leading the annual public liturgy/event/action on the Feast of the Holy Innocents 28 Dec. (You can read about this in Matthew Chapter 2)

Hey friends – on Saturday December 28th we’ll be holding the 5th annual Holy Innocents event. Please join us as we remember contemporary innocents suffering at the hands of today’s Herods.

In the days after Christmas, the church calendar remembers the Holy Innocents – the victims of Herod’s oppressive regime which imposed its own order at all costs, even the lives of innocents. The Feast of the Holy Innocents on December 28th reminds us that in the midst of our Christmas joy the lives of innocents, particularly children, are still at risk from the Powers – through our warmaking, our treatment of asylum seekers, and the sweatshops in which our gifts are often made. Join us as we gather to publicly remember, lament and resist the victimising of today’s holy innocents.

Date: Saturday December 28thTime: 10:30am-12noonPlace: Victoria Barracks (St Kilda Road) – from there we will march to Federation Square, then back to the Shrine (opposite Victoria Barracks).

If you can’t make it, have a great Christmas and please pass this invitation on your churches or to anyone who might be interested. Grace and peace,

Simon
