I copied the whole post over from our friends at just act. A list this good needs a few homes :)

I will have to show this list to my son JJ – he is always picking up snacks off the shelves asking “Is this made by the bad people?” I tend to reply “probably”

Do you want to be a Nestle boycotter?

Do you want to be a Nestl? boycotter? If you want to stay clear of Nestl? – here?s the list of companies by which Nestle profit – adapted from this list with some additional Australian products & companies listed (especially those recently acquired by Nestl?).

Check this out – PHILIPPINES WORKERS NEED YOUR HELP (letter writing campaign to Nestl? and Philippines Department of Labor and Employment – justice for Nestle Philippines workers at Cabuyao).

PS – thanks to Jill!

Depressing….they also bought the one and only decent company we use Australia wide for our catering…….and that company had bought up all the Australian good ones, which leaves noone.

Some of those in the list are a tad odd though- Novartis is a huge entity on its own so I’m surprised (and yet not) that Nestle own it, I suspect this list is also companies that Nestle own shares in, and in that respect, they should be ok, as owning part of a company doesn’t make it evil if it still acts independently….yes Nestle do make money via the shares, but so do probably lots of ordinary people, and quite a few employees might suffer there as well.

damn it, I had no idea Nestle owned San Pelligrino… or Uncle Toby’s.

ok, yes it is tough to not buy everything they make or are associated with .. they own hundreds of companies .. but by making the effort to avoid those you do know of is a start!! ..
and to share this with others !!! it will have an impact .. and they will have to rethink their business ethics !!!

i barely have a chance to go shopping, being a student and all, but when i do, i usually buy from IGA (Independent Grocers Association) and fortunately, i have the excuse that with my budget being limited, i never usually buy branded foods, since i particularly once was served Coffee Mate and thought it tasted very chemical based, and far from natural flavours which only caused me to turn to more local food choices. If i had more money i would certainly regularly invest in WA/ local food products from local suppliers, eg, bread baked in WA, yahava coffee, five senses coffee, fresh WA milk, eat out at places which use organic or local food ingredients and not serving nestle or other items. and if i had that more money, i would also only invest in small wa companies, though i assume most smaller/rural businesses would more than likely not provide the ability to purchase shares…up against the big companies, the day this change takes effect, i’ll most likely be dead… or die of a heart attack from the ground shaking news that the business world is becoming fair for all.
