The Justice & International Mission Unit of the Synod of Victoria and Tasmania, Uniting Church in Australia, invites applications for two positions of
SOCIAL JUSTICE OFFICER (f/t or p/t)
The positions require a commitment to the ethos of the Uniting Church in Australia, especially in the area of social justice. Experience of working in social justice campaigns is also essential.

The roles involve assisting and empowering the Uniting Church membership and wider community to be active in social justice campaigns, development of policy for Synod on social justice issues, research and assisting with the media work of the Unit.

Between them the two positions will cover areas of work including social justice issues related to:

  • Indigenous Australians;
  • Asylum seekers and refugees;
  • Overseas churches that the Uniting Church is in partner relationship with;
  • Overseas poverty especially in relation to aid levels, where aid is going, corruption and good governance; and
  • Cluster munitions and landmines.
